Some people like taking pills
Just in search of cheap thrills
With fancy names
And fancy claims
But all the while
They are just playing
Alternate Russian roulette
Or trying trapese flying
For the first time
Without a net.
Risk for some is a daily quest
But for the rest
Linus' blanket suffices.
Yet risk avoidance
Is slow but steady suicide.
Life is inherently risky
And everyone dies
At least once.
What are the odds
That living free
Takes away years?
That living in fear
Means years don't count?
What if
You had dared, cared
Enough to ask her out?
Fought for that job?
Listened to your beating heart?
The risk taker tho
May devalue the prize
If beating the odds
And not true love
Is the goal.
Cheap thrills?
A bad investment of
Your mortality!
Shared humanity?
That's a risk worth taking.
